I have been so blessed to find cutsie ideas from friends and around the blogosphere on how to up cycle things you already have to make cutiful home decor, gifts, and accessories!
My latest love is up cycling t-shirts and using those old buttons to make rings! Oversized rings are very trendy these days. Being a youth pastor’s wife (and having no girls of my own) I am constantly look for fun things to do with the youth gals. I can’t wait to make some of these trendy rings with them.
This was favorite of the bunch that I made. You can go to Michaels or probably any craft store and get a bag full of old buttons for around 5.00. They also had rings bases 3 to a package for 3.99. I used E6000 glue and ta da rings fit for a teenager or even make a trove of dress up treasure for your little princess.
This was my second fave I loved the blue base button on this one!
Next I used an old t-shirt to cut out some flower shaped appliqués and use fusible backing to attach them to a plain gray turtle neck for some added spiffiness.
I finished off the flowers by hand stitching some yo-yos for the flower middles. I think it turned out soooo cute. I have a ton of other tee ideas coming soon. So stay tuned!

These rings are great!
ReplyDeleteWow, love the t shirt flowers! They look very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThose big cocktail rings that are so popular right now can be kind of pricey and I love the vintage spin that the buttons give.
